Amid disappointment at the Major League level, the 2024 Willie McCovey Memorial Community Prospect List marches on, as we seek to rank the top 44 prospects in the San Francisco Giants organization.

Wednesday’s chapter brought us one of the most exciting youngsters in the system, as two-way player Bryce Eldridge has been voted as the No. 3 prospect in the system, in his first year.

Eldridge, who turned 19 just two months ago, was the Giants first-round pick in July’s draft. He is a highly impressive athlete and stands at 6’7, and his power was on immediate display. He smacked five home runs in just 61 plate appearances in rookie ball, hitting .294/.393/.647 (139 wRC+). He then went to Low-A San Jose, where he hit .293/.406/.379 (123 wRC+) with one home run in 69 plate appearances.

It’s unclear when Eldridge will make his pitching debut, or how much opportunity he’ll be given there. The Giants clearly value him more as a right fielder than as a pitcher, but we’ll see.

Eldridge is one of the players to keep a close eye on in 2024. His combination of power, contact, and swing decisions is very, very exciting.

Now let’s march on! And it’s nomination day!
