After many, many pitches, innings, days, weeks, and months of San Francisco Giants baseball, we’ve finally arrive at the final week of the season. The regular season, that is.
I don’t think anyone predicted just how meaningful this final week would be. But here the Giants are, headed home for three games each against the Arizona Diamondbacks and San Diego Padres, sporting the best record in baseball, trying to hold onto a two-game lead over the Los Angeles Dodgers.
It’s intense. It’s meaningful. And above all else, it’s fun.
It’s also poignant. A magical season is nearing a close, and while the excitement of the postseason looms, I’ll admit I’m not yet ready to say goodbye to such a blissful season.
Enjoy the final week, friends. It’s baseball, and baseball is beautiful.
It starts with an off day today, so we can all recharge and get ready for the final push. Then six more games. Then the real fun.
