MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers at New York Mets Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

The Giants head to New York tonight to take on the New York Mets. When last these two teams met (it seems like only a week ago) the Giants took two out of three to win the series. They’ll be hoping for a repeat or better starting tonight.

Taking the mound for the Giants will be Sammy Long, who enters tonight’s game with a 5.72 ERA, 3.63 FIP, with 31 strikeouts to 10 walks in 28.1 innings pitched. Long’s last start was on August 14th against the Rockies, where he pitched two innings, allowing two hits, a walk and one earned run, striking out four.

He’ll be facing off against Tylor Megill, who will enter tonight’s game with a 3.21 ERA, 3.56 FIP, with 60 strikeouts to 15 walks in 56 innings pitched. Megill’s last start came against the Giants last week, where he led the Mets to a 6-2 victory, allowing five hits, one run and two walks, and striking out six in six innings pitched.

Neither team has much experience with these young pitchers, but the Giants have a slight advantage, having faced Megill just last Wednesday. That said, they did lose that game. So we’ll see if they’ll have made some adjustments for today. In the Mets’ favor, they have Francisco Lindor back in the lineup after a stint on the injured list.
