Well, it’s safe to say that the San Francisco Giants hope the second game of their series against the Oakland Athletics goes better than the first one did, as they dropped the opener 4-1 on Friday night.
But the good and bad of baseball is they get to wash that game away and start all over today.
It’s Kevin Gausman day for the Giants. The Giants ace has been finding his form lately after a rough patch out of the All-Star break. In the last three games he’s pitched 16 innings, and allowed 14 hits, 6 walks, and 5 earned runs, with 20 strikeouts. On the year he has a 2.40 ERA, a 2.91 FIP, and 169 strikeouts to 45 walks in 142.1 innings.
He’s going up against a good one though, in A’s lefty Sean Manaea. Manaea is sporting a 3.77 ERA, a 3.52 FIP, and 148 strikeouts to 33 walks in 133.2 innings.
