It’s series finale time, and it’s also day baseball time. I dunno about you, but day baseball is one of my greatest pleasures.

It’s the San Francisco Giants vs. the Colorado Rockies, and it’s Alex Wood vs. Jon Gray. Wood has struggled lately, giving up 4 or more runs in each of his last three starts. Hopefully a poor Rockies’ offense is just what the doctor ordered, though two of those last three starts came against the far worse Arizona Diamondbacks, so we’ll see.

Gray is having a decent year, with a 3.85 ERA, a 4.04 FIP, and 110 strikeouts to 46 walks in 114.2 innings. Mostly I’m just impressed that a dude who plays half of his games at Coors Field can have an ERA that is outperforming his FIP. And it’s not even the first time in his career he’s done it!

Anyway, go Giants.
