Game two of this four game series between the Giants and the Colorado Rockies takes place tonight in San Francisco. Last night saw the Giants teeing off against Rockies starter Germán Márquez, chasing him out of the game after a six-run fourth inning.

The Giants would probably like a repeat of that to help them open up their division lead, but they’ll be facing a pitcher they haven’t seen a lot of. Taking the mound for Colorado tonight will be left hander Austin Gomber, who will enter tonight’s game with a 3.79 ERA, 3.80 FIP, with 98 strikeouts to 28 walks in 97 innings pitched.

Gomber faced the Giants back in his April 9th start and allowed just one hit and two earned runs, walking four and striking out five. He’s coming off of a start against the Marlins where he allowed five hits, zero runs or walks and struck out nine in six innings.

Alternatively, the Giants will have Anthony DeSclafani on the mound tonight, who enters the game with a 3.28 ERA, 3.77 FIP, with 118 strikeouts to 33 walks in 126 innings pitched. DeSclafani has had a string of fairly rough starts lately, averaging 3-4 earned runs. Additionally, he hasn’t made it out of the fourth inning in his last two starts. For the most part, DeSclafani benefitted greatly from his teammates scoring a metric ton of runs over the last month or so, but if the bats aren’t going, he might be in trouble.

And with a Brandon-less line-up, well, we’ll see.
