Thursday BP: You cannot stop Buster Posey, you can only hope to contain him

And good luck even doing that.

MLB: Arizona Diamondbacks at San Francisco Giants Neville E. Guard-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning, Giants fans! Last night’s game sure had all the fun of Tuesday night’s game, without the drama of the Diamondbacks putting up much of a fight. And the star of this short series, in my opinion, is Buster “I’m fast” Posey.

Now, I get it. There’s a huge case to be made for Brandon Crawford in that regard. And a case to be made for LaMonte Wade, Jr., Mike Yastrzemski and even * checks notes * Kevin Gausman in terms of offensive productivity. It’s truly an embarrassment of riches that we are unworthy of.

But nothing hits me right in the feels quite like a 34 year old Buster Posey hitting like he’s angling for another MVP award. A year out of the squat really seems to have done him a world of good. The Diamondbacks were unable to retire Posey in Tuesday night’s game, and he went 2-for-4 last night with an impressive home run to right field.

In other news, it looks like Evan Longoria’s return will happen this weekend, as he remained with the team rather than continue a rehab assignment in Sacramento. So expect some moves today or tomorrow.
