MLB: San Francisco Giants at Arizona Diamondbacks Joe Camporeale-USA TODAY Sports

The Giants and Diamondbacks will be closing out this short series tonight in San Francisco, with the Giants looking for a sweep and the Diamondbacks looking for some payback after last night’s wild ride of a game in which they came back twice and lost on an error.

On the mound for the Giants tonight is their ace, Kevin Gausman, who enters tonight with a 2.31 ERA, 2.91 FIP, with 157 strikeouts to 39 walks in 132 innings pitched. In Gausman’s last start, also against the Diamondbacks, he allowed just one earned run in six innings, helping the Giants win 7-1.

He’ll be facing off against Merrill Kelly, who enters tonight’s game with a 4.13 ERA, 3.77 FIP with 115 strikeouts to 32 walks in 137 innings pitched. Kelly’s last outing was an unfortunate one, in the Giants’ 5-4 win over Arizona last week, Kelly pitched eight innings and allowed only three hits and zero runs, but the Giants came back to tie it in the ninth and win it in the tenth thanks to the new runner on second rule in extra innings.

Also, this game happens to be Nurses Night at the ballpark. So even if you aren’t attending the game, maybe thank a nurse anyway. It’s been a rough couple of years for them.
