The San Francisco Giants bullpen carousel continues to spin round and round and round. Prior to their Tuesday series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Giants optioned right-handed pitcher John Brebbia to AAA Sacramento, and called up right-handed pitcher Camilo Doval.

RHP John Brebbia optioned to Triple-A Sacramento.
Doval, who is 24, made his MLB debut earlier in the year. He was absolutely electric, but also not particularly good. In 10.2 innings he struck out 13 batters, but also allowed 11 hits (4 of which were home runs), 6 walks, and 9 earned runs. He hasn’t been much better in AAA, where he has a 5.33 ERA and 1.78 WHIP, but he’s been better lately, as he hasn’t allowed a run in any of his last four appearances, or in seven of his last eight. He also recently made highlights by throwing a fastball that clocked in at 104.5 mph.
Brebbia has also struggled this year, with a 6.60 ERA, 4.43 FIP, and 1.53 WHIP, though his 16 strikeouts to 2 walks in 15 innings sure is nice.
Also of note on the roster front: Evan Longoria is nearing a return. Longoria has played four rehab games with AAA Sacramento, but is now back in San Francisco with the team. It looks as though he may be activated soon.
Sounds like it’s still possible Evan Longoria could be activated Wednesday, but #SFGiants are going to give him a chance to rest and recover from his rehab assignment.

Additional rehab game(a) are on the table, but there’s no reason to rush him back.
The Giants will have to clear space on not just the active roster but also the 40-man roster when Longoria is activated.
