MLB: San Diego Padres at San Francisco Giants Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

The Giants are back in the bay today as they welcome the Arizona Diamondbacks to Oracle Park. Yes, friends, we’ve reached that part of the year where it seems like the Giants are facing the Diamondbacks every week. It seems to happen every year with every division rival except the Dodgers. This series is thankfully a short one, at least.

Taking the mound for San Francisco will be Alex Wood, who will enter tonight’s game with a 4.03 ERA, 3.89 FIP, with 110 strikeouts to 34 walks in 102 innings pitched. Wood’s last two outings were a bit rocky, going only four and five innings and giving up four earned runs in each start, including one against the Diamondbacks last week, though the Giants won both.

He’ll be facing off against Zac Gallen, who will be entering tonight’s game with a 4.62 ERA, 4.32 FIP, with 75 strikeouts to 30 walks in 62.1 innings pitched. Gallen’s last start was last Wednesday against the Giants, where he gave up three earned runs in 5.2 innings in what ended up being a 7-1 win for San Francisco.
