It’s time for a new series, and it’s the final San Francisco Giants series before the All-Star break. If the Giants do well, they’ll be able to float into Tuesday’s All-Star Game with the best record in baseball, just as we all predicted when the season fittingly began on April 1.
The Giants are welcoming back Logan Webb, who hasn’t pitched since May 29. Webb has sneakily been one of the Giants best pitchers, with a 3.86 ERA and a 3.32 FIP. It’s good to have him back.
The Nationals are countering with righty Paolo Espino, who is having an interesting season. He’s done a great job suppressing runs (that is the name of the game, after all), with a 2.48 ERA and 3.60 FIP. But he’s also striking out just 6.3 batters per nine innings.
Programming note: There will not be a recap today.
