You might have noticed that I’m the only person who has written an article on this website in 11 months. You might be wondering if we could get a slightly different viewpoint on the San Francisco Giants, instead of hearing me pound away at the same silly opinions ad nauseam.
Well, we can, and we will, and it might be you.
We’re gonna add a few people to the team, all on remote contracts, with a monthly stipend.
What do the positions entail?
We’re a little fluid here, but what we’re looking for is basically all the things that this site has had and does have. Just more of it. So that means:
- Game coverage/recaps
- Op-ed pieces
- Analysis/sabermetric stuff that makes the reader say “oooh, spin rate”
- Minor League coverage
- Silly stuff
It doesn’t need to be all of those things, or even most of them. It can just be one or two of those things, though keep in mind that this is a year-round role, so you’ll need to be able to write about things during the offseason.
What qualifications do you need?
A minimum of 40 years covering baseball in an online platform, and a Master’s Degree in Sportz.
Jokes aside, you only need a few things:
- A love of the Giants. Duh. A hatred of the Giants is also acceptable, as long as you hate them because you love them.
- The ability to self-edit, and produce content that is good quality. If y’all read my articles you’re well aware that we’re not looking for MLA handbook perfection, but you should be able to write good articles that I don’t need to edit.
- Be a good teammate, and not hate me so much that you can’t stand the thought of being my teammate, specifically.
How to apply
If all of that sounds good to you, you can fill out this form. It can be as formal or casual as you want, but please include a writing sample (if you don’t have a sports writing sample that’s OK, but please send something that makes me know you’re capable of writing well, since that’s kind of the bulk of the job here). Please specify what type of writing you’re hoping to do, and how much writing you’re looking for. If you’r an MCC user, please let me know your username, too.
I’ll also address any and all questions in the comments, or feel free to send me an email.
