The San Francisco Giants farm is on the up and up, and it’s about to get stronger. It’s time for the MLB Draft, where the Giants — and baseball’s other 29 teams — get to add college and high school baseball players to the depths of their farm systems.
The Giants have the No. 14 pick this year, and in this draft a pick in that range gives the Giants a lot of of options. They’ll have plenty of college arms and both college and prep hitters to choose from. There are fewer high school arms projected in that range, so that’s the one area you can likely cross off.
It’s Farhan Zaidi’s third draft since taking over as president of baseball operations, and it’s Scott Harris’ second since being named GM. So far the Giants have gone with college bats in the first round of Zaidi’s first two drafts: outfielder Hunter Bishop in 2019 (No. 10) and catcher Patrick Bailey in 2020 (No. 13).
