Today two of my favorite things meet one of my least favorite things.
In one corner, the favorites: brunch baseball, and a double dose of baseball.
In the other corner, the least favorite: seven-inning baseball games.
I’m conflicted. Either way, the San Francisco Giants could find themselves with a big advantage today. The Washington Nationals were forced into a bullpen game on Friday when Max Scherzer was injured in the first inning. The Giants, on the other hand, got a complete game shutout from Anthony DeSclafani.
The Giants are running with their ace, Kevin Gausman for Game 1, so you would expect that they’ll have limited bullpen usage. Then they have a bullpen game for the second half of the doubleheader, and almost everyone should be available.
Reminder: it’s a split doubleheader, not a traditional one, so the second game is at 4:15 p.m. PT rather than right after the conclusion of the first game.
Game #63
