We now know the full details of the San Francisco Giants trade with the New York Yankees earlier this season. When the deal was first announced, the Giants were sending left-handed pitcher Wandy Peralta and a player to be named later to the Bronx, in exchange for outfielder Mike Tauchman.
That player to be named later has now been revealed: power-hitting first baseman Connor Cannon.

Cannon was a 17th-round pick in the 2019 MLB Draft, and showed some impressive power, hitting 13 home runs in 148 plate appearances in rookie ball that year. But he has struggled with knee injuries, and 7 plate appearances at low-A represent his only professional experience outside of rookie ball.
Fangraphs recently ranked him as the No. 40 prospect in the Giants system, with a 35/60 game power grade, and an 80/80 raw power grade. He ranked as the No. 35 prospect in this year’s McCovey Chronicles Community Prospect List.
