Hello and happy Monday.
This news comes a day late, but there wasn’t time to get it up yesterday, so in case you missed it, here it is. The San Francisco Giants placed left-handed reliever Caleb Baragar on the 10-day Injured List on Sunday, before their series finale with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He was replaced on the roster by right-handed reliever Nick Tropeano, who had been optioned just one day prior.
Giants placed Caleb Baragar on the IL with left elbow inflammation. Nick Tropeano recalled from AAA.

It’s yet another injury hit to the Giants, who have had numerous key players hit the IL throughout the season, and currently have Brandon Belt, Tommy La Stella, and Reyes Moronta sidelined. Baragar has been one of the team’s most reliable bullpen options this year, with a 0.52 ERA, a 3.58 FIP, and 14 strikeouts to 11 walks in 17.1 innings.
But it’s hard to see it as too much of a hit to the team, given how good Tropeano was last year, when he had a 1.15 ERA and a 2.55 FIP, with 19 strikeouts to 4 walks in 15.2 innings with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
Hopefully Baragar recovers quickly and is back on the roster soon. He’s been one of the better stories on the team over the last year, after being a shocking addition to last year’s roster.
In other injury news, right-handed starting pitcher Aaron Sanchez is getting closer to a return.
Aaron Sanchez will throw a side session either today or tomorrow as he returns from a biceps strain.
