The first Oracle Park game of the year is here.

Hello and happy Friday.

Before we talk baseball, I want to talk about money. Specifically, I would like to invite you to make some. Vox Media — McCovey Chronicles’ mom — has a survey panel, to gather important survey data.

If you sign up to join said panel, you’ll get paid for every survey you complete (they’re short). It’s a minimum of $1 per survey, redeemable as e-gift cards. You can choose from a variety of topics to take surveys on, including Vox and SB Nation.

If you’re interested (and over the age of 18, and located in the US), you can read more and sign up here. Then make that sweet, sweet beer money.

OK, back to baseball.

It’s here. The San Francisco Giants home opener has arrived.

There have been 558 days since the San Francisco Giants played a baseball game at Oracle Park in front of fans. That is coming to an end.

The home opener always feels special, even when watching from TV. Just seeing the park, in all her splendor, puts a smile on my face. The weather always seems perfect. The grass is as green as it will ever be. The broadcast crew is in the best mood they’ll be in all year.

It’s symbolic, traditional, and just a joy. Enjoy it, whether you’re on your couch or in the bleachers.

And if you’re in the latter, make sure you have the info you need before attending the game. You’ll need to provide proof of a recent (within three days) negative coronavirus test, or of your full vaccination (which must be at least two weeks prior).

What’s your favorite home opener memory?
