Hello and happy Tuesday.
The San Francisco Giants are dinged up. Like, really dinged up. They’ve thankfully been able to avoid too many serious injuries, but wow do they have a lot of minor ones.
So on Monday they issued an injury update, which featured ... wait for it ... eight names. The most notable news came regarding two very important players: Johnny Cueto and Mike Yastrzemski.
Cueto is eligible to return from the Injured List, but the Giants anticipate him missing a minimum of two more starts before he’s activated. That’s a bummer, though if Logan Webb pitches as well as he did on Sunday, the Giants should be all right.
Yastrzemski won’t be playing for at least a few days, but the Giants are hoping that he’ll be able to avoid a 10-day stint on the IL. That’s a gamble that could pay off, but given how short the Giants bench is, it could backfire as well.
Meanwhile, LaMonte Wade Jr., Tyler Beede, and Reyes Moronta are progressing well, and Brandon Crawford is hopeful to return to action tonight.
