Hello and happy Saturday.
Let me rattle off a few names of baseball players who have played baseball games for the San Francisco Giants baseball team in the last two baseball seasons. Williams Jerez. Rob Brantly. Connor Joe. Andrew Triggs. Michael Reed. Corban Joseph. Zach Green. Daniel Robertson. Tyler Austin. Dany Jimenez. Fernando Abad. Aaron Altherr.
There are more. I could do this all day. Not off the top of my head, of course. That’s kind of the point.
In 2019, Farhan Zaidi’s first year with the team, the Giants used 64 players. A year ago, in a 60-game season confused by the coronavirus, they used 45.
That is so many players.
So how many will they use this year?
On the one hand, you could make the case that they won’t go as wild this season, since they have better pieces, and therefore should have fewer moving parts. On the other hand, they made so many minor league free agent signings that, compared with their prospects who are knocking on the door, they could probably field three interesting teams (before you attack me, please note that I said “interesting” and not “good”).
A lot of good players on the Giants have options, and a lot of other players deserve a look before being dismissed. We could see an enormous amount of players.
Give me your prediction. I’ll say 53.

How many days until Opening Day?
There are 26 days until Opening Day. Wowzers.
Have a great Saturday, friends. Happy weekend.
