In the 25th iteration of the 2021 Willie McCovey Memorial Community Prospect List, the San Francisco Giants fourth and final Rule 5 protection made the rankings. Right-handed pitcher Kervin Castro, who will turn 22 on Super Bowl Sunday, was named the No. 25 prospect in the Giants farm, joining fellow Rule 5 protections Alexander Canario (No. 7), Gregory Santos (No. 15), and Camilo Doval (No. 16).
It’s an impressive rise from Castro, who didn’t make the 44-player prospect list a year ago, and then didn’t even have a Minor League season to prove himself. But in addition to being a Rule 5 protection, he reportedly stood out at the Instructional Leagues.
Let’s go find No. 26.
