Hello and happy Saturday.
According to a recent report from John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Francisco Giants new backup catcher, Curt Casali, had surgery on the hamate in his left hand in mid-December.
The team knew about the surgery when they signed the veteran to be Buster Posey’s backup, and he’s currently slowly ramping up activity at Spring Training in Scottsdale, Arizona. He’s expected to be ready for Opening Day, but if he’s not, the Giants have both of their primary catchers from 2020 — Chadwick Tromp and Joey Bart — on the 40-man roster.
