Hello and happy Wednesday.
Spring Training is upon us. Today, on the glorious and roasting hot fields in Scottsdale, Arizona, the pitchers and catchers for the San Francisco Giants will report. Another season of baseball is officially here. Another season of Giants baseball, most importantly.
I’ve never attended Spring Training, and I sure as hell won’t this year. But it always makes me smile, knowing the Giants players are out there on fresh grass, under the bright sun, wearing in new mitts, trying on sparkly clean cleats, seeing their buddies for the first time in months. You can just hear the crack of the bat and the thwack of a fastball finding the sweet spot in a catcher’s mitt.
It’s a beautiful time of year. The world smells like baseball.
Welcome back, Giants.
