The 2021 Royals Review Offseason Simulation just wrapped up today. As always, there were some pretty crazy transactions, so I wanted to post the final Giants roster here for everyone to see. I'll start with listing all of the transactions that took place, and then the final Giants roster. (Note: I was not the fake GM. I'm not sure who was. I just thought it would be fun to share the results.)
Transactions:
Misc:
- Club option for IF Wilmer Flores exercised
- Club option for RP Jose Alvarez exercised
- Club option for SP Johnny Cueto declined
- RP John Brebbia non-tendered
- OF Alex Dickerson non-tendered
Signings:
- RP Daniel Hudson, 1 yr/$4 million
- 1B/OF Ryan O'Hearn, MiLB Deal
- RP Tony Watson, MiLB Deal
- SP Max Scherzer, 2 yrs/$76 million
- SP Julio Teheran, MiLB Deal
- IF Freddy Galvis, MiLB Deal
- OF Nick Castellanos, 5 yrs/$90 million
- RP Steve Cishek, MiLB Deal
- 1B Brandon Belt, 1 yr/$9 million
- IF Pablo Sandoval, MiLB Deal
- IF Asdrubal Cabrera, 1 yr/$2 million w/incentives
Trades:
Giants acquire IF/OF Wil Myers from the Padres for SP/RP Sammy Long, 3B Casey Schmitt
Giants acquire SP Wade Miley from the Reds for SP Sean Hjelle
Giants acquire SP Freddy Peralta, OF Jackie Bradley Jr., SP Josh Lindblom from the Brewers for OF Mike Yastrzemski, IF Tommy La Stella, RP Tyler Rogers, OF Heliot Ramos
Giants acquire SP Kyle Hendricks from the Cubs for OF Luis Matos, SP Will Bednar, SP Manuel Mercedes, SS Dilan Rosario
Overall, more trades than I would've expected, and far more prospects traded away than the real Giants will be willing to part with. I expect all of Heliot Ramos, Luis Matos, and Will Bednar to still be in the organization come opening day. Same goes for the established major leaguers traded away, such as Yastrzemski, La Stella, and Rogers. The free agent signings are also interesting. Castellanos certainly would be a nice bat, but not necessarily at that contract length. Regardless, below is the final roster from the simulation.

C Joey Bart
1B Brandon Belt

3B Evan Longoria

Other roster options:
1B/OF Ryan O'Hearn, IF Freddy Galvis, IF Thairo Estrada, IF/OF Mauricio Dubon, IF Pablo Sandoval, OF Jackie Bradley Jr., RP Jay Jackson, RP Kervin Castro, RP Steve Cishek, SP Tyler Beede, SP Julio Teheran
The outfield defense takes a big hit in the name of offense, but the rebuilt and upgraded rotation looks like it can more than make up for it. That rotation can rival any other rotation in the league, and the dominant bullpen from last year is almost entirely the same. There also is still a good amount of depth due to some complimentary signings.
Here are the destinations for some of the notable Giants FAs:
SP Kevin Gausman - Colorado Rockies, 5 yrs/$90 million with incentives
IF/OF Kris Bryant - Los Angeles Angels, 6 yrs/$210 million
SP Anthony DeSclafani - Toronto Blue Jays, 2 yrs/$20 million w/$10 million club option for 2024 w/$2 million buyout
SP Alex Wood - Milwaukee Brewers - 3 yrs/$22 million
SP Johnny Cueto - Philadelphia Phillies - MiLB Deal
IF Donovan Solano - Pittsburgh Pirates - 1 yr/$2.5 million
SP Aaron Sanchez - Minnesota Twins - 1 yr/$4.5 million
OF Alex Dickerson - Atlanta Braves - MiLB Deal
RP John Brebbia - Miami Marlins - MiLB Deal
Bonus: Tommy La Stella was traded again, this time by the Brewers to the A's as part of a package for Matt Olson!
