Monday BP: Dodgers do not win the World Series

The second best outcome of every postseason!

MLB: Los Angeles Dodgers at Atlanta Braves Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning, baseball fans!

There are two preferred outcomes in any given year of postseason baseball. The first, of course, is the San Francisco Giants winning the World Series. The second is the Los Angeles Dodgers not winning the World Series. The Dodgers, of course, eliminated the Giants a little over a week ago so we weren’t able to enjoy the former. However, thanks to the Atlanta Braves, we now get to enjoy the latter!

As many people, both Dodgers fans and casual observers, have noted, it took just about everything the Dodgers had to battle the Giants down the stretch and through the National League Division Series. And it showed, as they went down 2-0 early in the National League Championship Series. They put up a fight, though, winning Game 3 in a late-inning rally, and knocked the Braves around pretty badly in Game 5. But ultimately, they didn’t have enough left in the tank, losing 4-2 in Game 6 on Saturday.

Now, many of you likely remember our annual “The Dodgers don’t win the World Series for the 30th year in a row” posts that we used to do after the games in which they were eliminated. However, with them winning in 2020, it just doesn’t have the same punch, so we figured we’d do it this morning, so we can start our week out with some coffee and schadenfreude.

The World Series is now set, with the Braves set to take on the Houston Astros in Texas tomorrow night.
