Anthony DeSclafani vs. Walker Buehler

MLB: San Diego Padres at San Francisco Giants D. Ross Cameron-USA TODAY Sports

The San Francisco Giants will take on the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight in Game 4 of the National League Division Series in Los Angeles. With a win tonight, the Giants can clinch the series against their longtime rivals and advance to the Championship Series.

Taking the mound for the Giants tonight will be Anthony DeSclafani, making his postseason debut. DeSclafani ended the regular season with a 3.17 ERA, 3.62 FIP, with 152 strikeouts to 42 walks in 167 innings pitched. His last few starts of the regular season were strong, only allowing more than two runs once in September. His last start against the Dodgers was on September 3rd, in which he allowed only two hits, zero runs, and three walks, striking out five in six innings of work. The Giants would be happy to get that from him again tonight.

It’ll be a tough order for the Giants offense, as he’ll be facing off against Walker Buehler, who has been fantastic this season, despite getting the loss in the first game of this series. In Game 1, Buehler allowed six hits, two of which were home runs, for three runs, with a walk and five strikeouts in six innings of work. I think the Giants would also be happy to get that from him again tonight.

Tommy La Stella will be in the lineup tonight, after getting pulled for left Achilles tightness in last night’s game and Darin Ruf will be getting the start at first. Buster Posey will bat cleanup, after his huge two-run home run in Friday night’s game against Buehler.

The Dodgers will be throwing everything they’ve got at the Giants tonight, with everyone available except for Julio Urías, who would start Game 5 if needed.
