A lack of Minor League Baseball in 2020 hurt pretty much every baseball prospect, but you could certainly make a case that it hurt 2019 draft picks the most, as they were preparing for their first full season of professional baseball.
So it’s fair to wonder where a player like first baseman Logan Wyatt — the San Francisco Giants second-round pick in 2019 — would land on the 2021 Willie McCovey Memorial Community Prospect List in a more normal year with more normal development. Instead, Wyatt comes in at a very similar place as he did this time last year: No. 19, up one spot from his placement on the 2020 CPL.
He could be a pretty big mover — in either direction, really — assuming a semi-normal Minor League season in 2021.
Now let’s see who finishes in Wyatt’s old spot at No. 20.
