Thursday BP: Giants attended Corey Kluber’s showcase

I’d be OK with that signing.

Hello and happy Thursday.

The San Francisco Giants are likely going to add a starting pitcher or two before the season starts. And while they’ve admitted a desire to sign a left-hander, they’re not going to turn down a righty if the ... uhh ... right one is available.

According to a report from KNBR’s Mark W. Sanchez, the Giants attended Corey Kluber’s showcase on Wednesday.

Kluber would be a very Giantsy move, but also a super intriguing addition. He’s 34, has only pitched 36.2 innings in the last two years due to injuries, and wasn’t good in those innings. He was also third in Cy Young voting in 2018, and won the award in 2017, for the second time in his career. So if he looked healthy in his showcase, there are some serious reasons for optimism.

A lot of teams attended Kluber’s showcase, so the Giants being there doesn’t mean much, just that he’s on their radar, in however small of a capacity.
