Last year, in the 2020 Willie McCovey Memorial Community Prospect List, the McCovey Chronicles community voted right-handed pitcher Gregory Santos as the No. 15 prospect in the San Francisco Giants farm.
And this year, in the 2021 Willie McCovey Memorial Community Prospect List, the McCovey Chronicles community voted Santos as ... wait for it ... the No. 15 prospect in the Giants farm. That comes a few days after Jairo Pomares repeated his spot at No. 14.
On the one hand, this shouldn’t be surprising, after the coronavirus took a year of Minor League development off the table.
On the other hand, I’m a little surprised that Santos didn’t get a boost from Eric Longenhagen saying he’ll put the righty in his top 100 list this season — pretty high praise.
Anyway, let’s find him a buddy at No. 16.
