Notes

No Slater: Austin Slater has been relegated to only being a DH since returning from the Injured List, but against a left-handed pitcher the righty isn’t in the lineup. That might mean that he’s hurting, or it might just mean the Giants were more interested in getting Wilmer Flores’ bat into the lineup. I haven’t seen anything from the beat reporters as to why he’s sitting.

No DBacks! Tyler Anderson’s last three starts have been against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He finally gets to face a non-Arizona team for the first time since August 17.

Crazy sky: You’re probably aware of the wild sky and atmosphere in Northern California, due to bizarre weather and an abundance of wildfires. It’s made for quite a scene at Oracle Park, but apparently the air quality is good enough to play.

Enjoy the baseball, friends. And stay safe.
