After stumbling in Friday’s series opener, the San Francisco Giants have now won two straight, and have a chance to take a four-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
That would move them to .500, which sure would be cool.
Note: We’ve got a funny start time today (5:05 p.m.) due to the holiday.
Game #42

Notes
Longo sits: Evan Longoria was initially in the lineup when the Giants put it out on Monday morning. But he was scratched due to glute soreness (hey, we’ve all been there), and replaced by Pablo Sandoval.
Evan Longoria has some right glute soreness. Isn't considered serious, but he gets the day off. Pablo Sandoval makes first start at third since having Tommy John.

A debut! The DBacks are in punt mode, and so we get to see a player make his debut: third baseman Wyatt Mathisen, a 26 year old. Mathisen was drafted in the second round of 2012, and has slowly worked his way up to the Majors. He’s not a highly-touted prospect, but a debut is always exciting, and hopefully it’s a good day for him (not too good, though.)
Enjoy the baseball, friends. Happy Labor Day.
