And so begins perhaps the most important series of the season for the San Francisco Giants: a four-game set against the Colorado Rockies.

The Rockies are reeling, and the Giants have been great at home this year. The table is set for them to do well, but they have to actually ... you know ... do well. That starts now.

Game #53

Who: San Francisco Giants (26-26) vs. Colorado Rockies (23-29)
Where: Oracle Park, San Francisco, California
When: 6:45 p.m. PT
Regional broadcast: NBC Sports Bay Area (available through fuboTV)
National broadcast: MLB Network (out of market only, available through fuboTV)
Radio: KNBR 680 AM/104.5 FM

Lineups

The top of the order is new for the Giants ... and exciting! Also, Joey Bart is a late addition, and will catch Johnny Cueto for the first time since a very poor outing for the both of them.

  1. LF — Alex Dickerson (L) — .276/.350/.528 — 139 OPS+
  2. 1B — Brandon Belt (L) — .296/.409/.576 — 169 OPS+
  3. 2B — Donovan Solano (R) — .337/.376/.494 — 139 OPS+
  4. DH — Darin Ruf (R) — .303/.384/.579 — 162 OPS+
  5. SS — Brandon Crawford (L) — .283/.352/.483 — 129 OPS+
  6. 3B — Evan Longoria (R) — .273/.309/.442 — 105 OPS+
  7. CF — Mauricio Dubón (R) — .292/.347/.377 — 101 OPS+
  8. C — Joey Bart (R) — .241/.302/.304 — 69 OPS+
  9. RF — Luis Basabe (S) — .200/.385/.200 — 70 OPS+
    RHP — Johnny Cueto — 4.78 ERA, 4.45 FIP, 48 K and 22 BB in 52.2 IP

And the Rockies lineup looks ... what’s the word ... bad.

  1. LF — Raimel Tapia (L) — .300/.359/.373 — 86 OPS+
  2. CF — Kevin Pillar (R) — .279/.325/.447 — 101 OPS+
  3. DH — Charlie Blackmon (L) — .307/.360/.464 — 106 OPS+
  4. SS — Trevor Story (R) — .302/.373/.554 — 130 OPS+
  5. 1B — Josh Fuentes (R) — .348/.357/.515 — 117 OPS+
  6. 3B — Ryan McMahon (L) — .208/.290/.389 — 70 OPS+
  7. C — Elias Diaz (R) — .239/.314/.326 — 63 OPS+
  8. RF — Sam Hilliard (L) — .238/.304/.488 — 96 OPS+
  9. 2B — Garrett Hampson (R) — .237/.287/.410 — 73 OPS+
    RHP — Germán Márquez — 4.33 ERA, 3.49 FIP, 63 K and 23 BB in 68.2 IP

Notes

No Arenado: Nolan Arenado — the biggest Giants killer alive this side of Paul Goldschmidt — will not be playing tonight, or in any game this series, due to a shoulder injury.

Tromp’s status unknown: Chadwick Tromp has been Johnny Cueto’s personal catcher ever since Cueto and Joey Bart had a rough go of things, and Tromp was originally in the lineup. But he was scratched a few hours before the game. It’s unclear why, and if he’s available off the bench, but he did jam his elbow on a dive on Sunday.

Enjoy the baseball, friends.
