Lineups

Here’s the Giants lineup that will try and score 24 runs. Alex Dickerson gets the time-honored, “you hit 3 home runs and 2 doubles and have a walk, you play the next day” start.

  1. 2B — Donovan Solano (R) — .345/.384/.500 — 141 OPS+

    RHP — Logan Webb — 4.35 ERA, 3.28 FIP, 30 K and 13 BB in 31 IP

And the Rockies get Trevor Story back in the lineup. He rested Tuesday, which was a good move in hindsight.

  1. DH — Raimel Tapia (L) — .306/.390/.376 — 95 OPS+
  2. SS — Trevor Story (R) — .293/.369/.564 — 130 OPS+

    LHP — Kyle Freeland — 3.43 ERA, 4.31 FIP, 26 K and 10 BB in 42 IP

Notes

Rockies lineup is U-G-L-Y: This isn’t really a note, just a rude observation. No disrespect to the Rockies handsome chaps, but that lineup is ugly. Mind you, Nolan Arenado and Trevor Story constantly eat the Giants alive, so it may not be predictive, but ... yeesh.

Low Ks ... again: Yesterday I mentioned that Jon Gray has a low strikeout rate this year, and how dangerous that is at Coors Field, where just making contact is dangerous. It’s the same case with Kyle Freeland, who is striking out just 5.6 batters per 9 innings. The Giants should be able to put a lot of balls in play, and that just might be enough.

Robertson at SS: A day after getting called up and making his Giants debut off the bench (he played third base), Daniel Robertson gets a start at shortstop. Hopefully he gets some balls hit his way so we can see how he does.

Enjoy the baseball, everyone.
