It’s weekday day baseball! The San Francisco Giants will emerge from today’s game having either earned a split against the Colorado Rockies — thus keeping the dream of a successful road trip alive — or having lost a four-game set, and buried under three feet of sand as they head to Los Angeles.

I have an opinion on which narrative they should pursue, but I don’t want to spoil it.

Game #14

Who: San Francisco Giants (6-7) vs. Colorado Rockies (8-3)
Where: Coors Field, Denver, Colorado
When: 12:10 p.m. PT
Regional broadcast: NBC Sports Bay Area (available through fuboTV)
National broadcast: ESPN+ (Giants feed)
Radio: KNBR 680 AM/104.5 FM

Lineups

The Giants are facing a left-handed pitcher for the first time in a while, which means you’re going to see some names you might have forgotten ever played for the Giants. Also, an off-day for Mike Yastrzemski who, by the way, still leads the league in WAR.

Anyway, it’s an all-righty lineup for the Giants.

  1. LF — Austin Slater (R) — .294/.400/.294 — 105 OPS+
  2. 2B — Wilmer Flores (R) — .310/.333/.476 — 131 OPS+
  3. SS — Donovan Solano (R) — .436/.452/.615 — 205 OPS+
  4. 3B — Evan Longoria (R) — .316/.346/.545 — 153 OPS+

  9. CF — Mauricio Dubón (R) — .240/.269/.280 — 59 OPS+
    LHP — Tyler Anderson — 3.68 ERA, 7.90 FIP, 4 Ks and 6 BBs in 7.1 IP

And the Rockies lineup still has Nolan Arenado. Give it a rest already!

  1. CF — David Dahl (L) — .244/.286/.333 — 64 OPS+
  2. DH — Trevor Story (R) — .275/.396/.575 — 154 OPS+

Notes

Taxi squad update: On Thursday morning, the Giants optioned outfielder Steven Duggar and left-handed pitcher Andrew Suárez to get the roster down to 28. Those two were immediately placed on the taxi squad, where they join a crew that seems to include catcher Chris Herrmann, and right-handed pitchers Dereck Rodríguez and Andrew Triggs.

Reunion: Tyler Anderson spent the first four years of his career with the Rockies. Now he’ll take the mound for the Giants, marking the first time he’s competed against his former team.

Enjoy the day baseball!
