And the Giants get to face hot prospect Daulton Varsho, who hasn’t played in this series and only appeared in one game the last time the teams played. Also, three of the Diamondbacks first four hitters have an on-base percentage of .338, which means nothing but intrigues me.

Notes
No Bart: Joey Bart is getting a day off, which isn’t surprising since he’s played three days in a row, and is still getting into everyday conditioning. Still, after last week’s fiasco when forming a battery with Cueto, I was curious to see if he’d get a chance to try and work through things. Instead, he’ll get two straight rest days.
Kapler said last night he leaned toward Bart catching Cueto, but said #SFGiants have thrown a lot at the rook and figure he could use two days in a row as a mental and physical break. Acknowledged that Flores had two uncharacteristic bad at-bats yesterday. Also gets 2 days off.

Trade watch: The trade deadline is tomorrow. The Giants could end up being sellers, and the DBacks are reportedly shopping a long list of players. There’s a not-insignificant chance that someone is traded during the game. It was the Giants Wilmer Flores, you might remember, who made headlines while with the New York Mets, when he found out mid-game that he had been traded, but wasn’t taken out of the game. Flores, who had been open about not wanting to leave the Mets organization, started crying on the field, but the trade later fell through.
Hopefully no one has their heart broken today on national TV.
Enjoy the baseball, friends.
