Lineups

Since Baseball-Reference hasn’t yet updated from Game 1 of the doubleheader, all of the stats are prior to the first game. Here’s what the Giants are working with.

  1. CF — Mike Yastrzemski (L) — .293/.410/.612 — 179 OPS+
  2. DH — Wilmer Flores (R) — .291/.327/.515 — 129 OPS+

  4. 1B — Brandon Belt (L) — .313/.395/.612 — 174 OPS+
  5. 2B — Donovan Solano (R) — .351/.390/.505 — 147 OPS+

  7. C — Joey Bart (R) — .235/.350/.412 — 111 OPS+
  8. SS — Brandon Crawford (L) — .256/.340/.372 — 98 OPS+
  9. RF — Joey Rickard (R) — N/A
    RHP — Kevin Gausman — 4.65 ERA, 3.13 FIP, 42 K and 6 BB in 31 IP

The Dodgers lineup is just as scary as the one that just hung 7 runs on the Giants in 7 innings. But it has Gavin Lux, whom Fangraphs ranks as the second-best prospect in all of baseball, who got called up to be the team’s extra body for the doubleheader. Straight to the lineup he goes.

  1. RF — Mookie Betts (R) — .293/.359/.638 — 167 OPS+
  2. SS — Corey Seager (L) — .300/.340/.600 — 152 OPS+
  3. DH — Justin Turner (R) — .294/.286/.431 — 125 OPS+
  4. 1B — Cody Bellinger (L) — .225/.301/.458 — 105 OPS+
  5. 3B — Max Muncy (L) — .194/.323/.435 — 107 OPS+
  6. LF — Joc Pederson (L) — .187/.299/.373 — 84 OPS+
  7. C — Will Smith (R) — .184/.360/.447 — 121 OPS+
  8. 2B — Gavin Lux (L) — N/A
  9. CF — Kiké Hernández (R) — .226/.261/.405 — 80 OPS+
    LHP — Caleb Ferguson — 0.71 ERA, 1.66 FIP, 19 K and 2 BB in 12.2 IP

Notes

Gamesmanship? The game was initially announced as being at 4:05. But when the Dodgers took a long time to reveal their starter, the Giants pushed the start time back 35 minutes.

No Dubi: Despite facing lefties in both halves of the doubleheader, Mauricio Dubón is not getting a start today. The Giants are giving Joey Rickard a second start, and also giving the nod to left-handed batter Alex Dickerson, who has just 3 plate appearances against lefties all year. Seems weird. However, that may be due to...

Expect a Dodgers bullpen game: Prior to the postponement of last night’s game, Walker Buehler was scheduled to pitch for the Dodgers today. But he was placed on the Injured List this morning, and the Dodgers are starting with Ferguson. The lefty has made 13 appearances on the year, all in relief, and has not thrown more than 1.1 innings in a game this year. His season-high pitch count is 19.

So it might just be a bullpen game for LA.

Enjoy the baseball, friends.
