Notes
Betts decides to play: Mookie Betts — the only African-American player on either team’s active roster — was originally not in the lineup, as he wasn’t planning on playing today. But after talking with other Black players in baseball, he decided that playing was the way he wanted to use his platform.
Dave Roberts said Mookie Betts told him last night that he wasn’t playing today, but changed his mind. Betts told him this morning that he spoke to other Black players around the league and decided they could use their platform by playing.
