Notes
Faith in the vets: Hunter Pence and Brandon Crawford are in the lineup despite rough offensive numbers to start the season. It sounds like Gabe Kapler and the front office are still a ways away from losing faith in either veteran, and both players have been very unlucky so far.
Kapler on Pence, who is 0-for-23 but hitting fourth: "I just continue to have so much confidence in Hunter Pence against left-handed pitching. He dominated left-handed pitching last year for the Rangers and has had better at-bats as of late, hitting the ball harder and harder."

Smyly concern: Drew Smyly exited Saturday’s game with left index finger soreness. With his next start scheduled for a hitter’s park on Thursday, it looks like he might be headed for the Injured List.
Sounds increasingly likely the #SFGIants will put Smyly on the injured list. Hard to carry a starter with a hurt finger when you're going into Coors Field for four games. Having MRI now.
