Notes
Cahill returns: It’s just the second start of the season for Trevor Cahill, and it comes against the team he played for in 2019. He’ll hope to do better against his former team than he did while with them.
Pujols will have to wait for SF: Coming into this series, the Angels to watch were Mike Trout, Albert Pujols, and Jo Adell. Pujols is a shell of the player he once was — when he won three MVPs in five years — but he’s very close to a historic milestone, as he sits at 659 career home runs, just one behind Willie Mays.
He gets a day off today, meaning unless he comes in as a pinch hitter, he’ll try and tie the Giants legend in San Francisco when the series moves there tomorrow.
Bundy is good: This isn’t really a note so much as just a general statement, but in case you’ve just been staring at a lineup that has Trout, Rendon, and Ohtani in the middle of it, and missed the pitching, here’s a reminder that Dylan Bundy is really, really, really good, or at least he has been this year, where he’s struck out 11 batters per nine innings while walking less than one.
Enjoy the baseball, friends.
