The 10-game road trip is mercifully coming to a conclusion today. And as rough as it has felt, the San Francisco Giants have a chance to go 4-6 with a win. Given the competition they’ve faced, that would be a win.

And they’re turning to Trevor Cahill, who makes his Giants debut, to try and get it done.

A day after hitting his first home run of the season, and playing a huge role in the Giants comeback win, Hunter Pence gets put into the lineup against a right-handed pitcher.

Notes

No Panda: For the third time this series, the Giants are facing a right-handed pitcher, and for the third time this series Pablo Sandoval is starting the game on the bench. Gabe Kapler mentioned on Tuesday that Sandoval was dealing with a family matter, though he did pinch-hit in the game, which was also his birthday. It’s unclear if that is playing a role in Sandoval’s omission from the lineup, or if it’s just the fact that he’s been struggling.

No Donnie Barrels: Donovan Solano is also sidelined, due to abdominal soreness that kept him out of Tuesday’s game.

Enjoy the baseball, friends.
