Due to the coronavirus outbreak suspending the 2020 MLB season, we’re rewatching the three San Francisco Giants postseason runs, game-by-game, on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights at 6 p.m. PT, with a gamethread for each.
The San Francisco Giants dropped Game 3 of the World Series, losing 3-2 to the Kansas City Royals. Suddenly the Giants are in unfamiliar territory: they’re trailing.
The Giants hadn’t trailed a series all postseason. And they never trailed in the 2010 World Series or the 2012 World Series. So being down 2-1 to the Royals is new to them, and they’re surely feeling the pressure to tie the series up after dropping a home game in Game 3.
To try and even things at 2-2, the Giants are turning to right-hander Ryan Vogelsong, who finished the year with an 8-13 record, a 4.00 ERA, a 3.85 FIP, and 151 strikeouts in 184.2 innings.
The Royals are handing the ball to left-hander Jason Vargas, who finished the season with an 11-10 record, a 3.71 ERA, a 3.84 FIP, and 128 strikeouts in 187 innings.
We’re starting this rewatch at the same time as all the other ones: 6 p.m. PT. The video is embedded at the bottom of the article, or you can find it at this link, or you can YouTube search “2014 World Series Game 4” and click the first link.
