Hello and happy Sunday. I hope it’s a wonderful day for you.
Today is the day that the San Francisco Giants must submit their 60-player pool ahead of the 60-game 2020 MLB season.
If you missed the news, teams are allowed to select 60 players, and have to build their roster from those 60, with the non-active ones playing at an alternate training site. So that means the Giants have some choices to make, and we’ll find out today where they land.
With that said, the Giants can change along the way. If they, say, sign Yasiel Puig, they can knock someone out of the 60-player pool. If they trade Kevin Gausman for a prospect, they can add another player to the pool. So they’re not locked into those 60, but it will give you a sense of who you can expect to see play games this season.
So, do you have any hot takes as to which of the players that aren’t on the 40-man roster get the call? Or which players on the 40-man roster get cut?
It will be interesting to see. The Giants are reportedly sending a lot of their top prospects, just for development purposes.
Drop your predictions in the comments!
Did Barry Bonds hit a home run today?
Absolutely.
June 28, 1994: Against the Los Angeles Dodgers, Bonds hit a solo home run in the 6th inning off of Orel Hershiser. It cut the Giants deficit to 5-3, and they would lose 7-4. It was his 20th homer of the year.
Hope you all have a tremendous Sunday.
