Due to the coronavirus outbreak suspending the 2020 MLB season, we’re rewatching the three San Francisco Giants postseason runs, game-by-game, on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights at 6 p.m. PT, with a gamethread for each.
They needed 10 innings, but the San Francisco Giants squeaked by the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 3 of the 2014 NLCS by a score of 5-4. With that, the Giants retake the series lead 2-1.
Now they have the chance to make it a big lead. Win Game 4 and the Giants can put the Cardinals backs firmly against the wall, though San Francisco won’t be too comfortable. It was only two years ago that the Cardinals led the Giants 3-1 in the NLCS, and we all know what happened then.
As they look to take the commanding lead in front of their fans, the Giants are sending Ryan Vogelsong to the mound. Vogelsong finished the year with an 8-13 record, a 4.00 ERA, a 3.85 FIP, and 151 strikeouts in 184.2 innings.
The Cardinals are hoping to even things up behind Shelby Miller, who finished the year with a 10-9 record, a 3.74 ERA, a 4.54 FIP, and 127 strikeouts in 183 innings.
We’re starting this rewatch at the same time as all the other ones: 6 p.m. PT. The video is embedded at the bottom of the article, or you can find it at this link, or you can YouTube search “Giants 2014 NLCS Game 4” and click the first link.
