Hello, happy Sunday, and happy Father’s Day.

Father’s Day feels like an extremely difficult holiday this year, as Mother’s Day was. With the coronavirus putting the world on hold, many people are unable to be around their parents or their kids. Many don’t know when they’ll be around their family members and loved ones. Many are scared for the health of the people they love most.

I’m not trying to be a downer, I swear. It’s just a poignant day.

If you’re fortunate enough to have a father who is alive and who you have a good relationship with, give them a call. Let them know that you love them and are thankful for them. Let them know you can’t wait to see them again.

In less poignant news, tonight are the ESPYs! As always, the ESPYs are being hosted on ESPN at 6 p.m. PT. But due to the coronavirus, they’ll be hosted remotely.

But what a trio of hosts have we got. The show — which will focus on humanitarianism instead of sports achievements — is hosted by one of the most accomplished couples in the history of sports: Olympic gold medalist and two-time World Cup-winning soccer star Megan Rapinoe and three-time WNBA champion and four-time Olympic gold medal-winning basketball star Sue Bird.

They’re joined by Super Bowl champion and NFL star Russell Wilson.

It should be a good show, that celebrates the thing that really matter in sports: The humanity.

Did Barry Bonds hit a home run today?

Against all odds, Barry Bonds did not hit a home run today in Giants history.

Have a great Sunday, one and all. To the dads on McCovey Chronicles, I wish you the happiest Father’s Day.
