Due to the coronavirus outbreak suspending the 2020 MLB season, we’re rewatching the three San Francisco Giants postseason runs, game-by-game, on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights at 6 p.m. PT, with a gamethread for each.
The San Francisco Giants jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the NLDS by managing 1-run wins in Games 1 and 2 against the Washington Nationals. But after the Nationals took Game 3 by a score of 4-1, suddenly there’s some pressure on the Giants.
Sure, they’re still in the driver’s seat. But if they don’t win Game 4, then they’ll have to head back to Nationals Park for a winner-take-all Game 5, with the momentum having firmly swung in Washington’s direction.
It’s not a must-win game, but there’s not a Giants fan who will feel comfortable if they lose.
The Giants are sending Ryan Vogelsong to the mound as they try to advance to the NLCS. Vogelsong finished the year with an 8-13 record, a 4.00 ERA, a 3.85 FIP, and 151 strikeouts in 184.2 innings.
The Nationals are turning to Gio Gonzalez as they try and keep their season alive. Gonzalez finished the season with a 10-10 record, a 3.57 ERA, a 3.02 FIP, and 162 strikeouts in 158.2 innings.
We’re starting this rewatch at the same time as all the other ones: 6 p.m. PT. The video is embedded at the bottom of the article, or you can find it at this link, or you can YouTube search “Giants 2014 NLDS Game 4” and click the first link.
