If you’re not great with dates, let me give you a quick head’s up: Father’s Day is fast approaching. Father’s Day falls on Sunday, June 21, this year, which means you’ve got a little bit of time to figure out what you’re doing for your dad this year.
So let’s start with the basics: If you’re fortunate enough to have a father who you have a good relationship with, call them. I’m not going to put on my door-to-door salesman hat here and tell you that a gift is better than a phone call that reminds them how much you love them and are thankful that they’re your father.
But with that said ... have you ever met a person who didn’t love getting gifts? Yeah, I bet not.
If your dad is a San Francisco Giants fan, then first and foremost, tell them you love them extra when you call them, because Giants fans are angels, placed on earth to provide good things to the world. And then, after you’ve called them and told them you love them, get them some Giants swag to celebrate.
We’ve got some options for you. Wow have we got some options.
So get your Giants-loving dad some gifts, but above all else, call them if you’re fortunate enough to be able to. It’s a hard time right now, with the quarantine — I haven’t seen my dad in six months, which is the longest I’ve ever gone without seeing him. I’m not sure when I’ll next see him.
These things are hard, and sad. A call and a few words goes a long way. As does a Buster Posey shirt . . .
