It’s time for Day 2 of the 2020 MLB Draft! Enjoy it, because it may be the last live San Francisco Giants event that we get for a while.

The draft starts at 2 p.m. PT, and is televised on ESPN2 and the MLB Network. If you don’t have a TV package, you can get ESPN2 by signing up for Hulu TV.

On Day 1, the Giants used their first round pick on North Carolina State catcher Patrick Bailey, a switch-hitter with some good power. You can read about that selection here.

Today — which is rounds 2 through 5, plus the competitive balance round B and compensation round — the Giants have six picks. That’s tied with the St. Louis Cardinals for most selections.

Here’s what they’re working with:

#49 — Casey Schmitt, 3B/RHP, San Diego State
#67 — Nick Swiney, LHP, North Carolina State
#68 — Jimmy Glowenke, SS, Dallas Baptist
#85 — Kyle Harrison, LHP, De La Salle High School (CA)
#114 — R.J. Dabovich, RHP, Arizona State
#144

It will be interesting to see what direction the team goes in. Many people were hoping the team would shore up their pitching — clearly the weakness in the farm — in the first round, but that didn’t happen. There’s a decent chance of a first-round talent falling to the Giants with the 49th pick, and president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi has been open that they feel they have the slot money to target the best player available with all six picks.

I’ll put up an article for each of the Giants selections, so we can keep their info and videos easily accessible, and I’ll pin this post so we can all hang out here and talk about the draft.

Someone taken today could change the course of the franchise entirely. Or not!
