Over the last few days, protests have taken place all over the country, as people stand up against police brutality, systematic racism, and the senseless deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and many other African Americans.
On Monday, the San Francisco Giants took to social media to issue a statement regarding systematic injustice in the country.

Here’s the statement in full:
We unequivocally denounce acts of racial injustice against members of the black community that continue to plague our nation. We pledge to honor the memories of those who have senselessly lost their lives by working together to end discrimination and violence in our communities.
Not many MLB teams have addressed this topic. At the time of publishing this article, only a small handful of teams had released any statements.
With that said, the feedback on the Giants statement has been that it’s a bit hollow. In a time of hurting, uncertainty and fear, the statement didn’t provide any assurance that the team will take active measures to increase the safety of minority communities, disable systematic injustice, or enact any real change. It denounced racism and injustice, though stopped short of criticizing anyone or anything.
Hopefully we see more from the team in the coming days, weeks, months and years. We all need to do more.
