Good morning and happy Monday. I hope you’re all doing as well as is possible, and staying as safe as is possible.
We’re only nine days away from the start of the 2020 MLB Draft, which means we’re only nine days away from getting really upset at the San Francisco Giants for drafting someone. I can’t wait.
This year, the entirety of the draft will be televised live on ESPN. According to a press release from the network, the first round of the draft will air on ESPN on June 10, from 4 - 7:30 p.m. PT. The rest of the draft will air on June 11, from 2 - 8 p.m. PT on ESPN2. Both days will be available on WatchESPN, with the first day also available on ESPN Deportes.
ESPN also shared some details of the airing. It will be hosted in studio by Karl Ravech and Kiley McDaniel, with remote appearances from Jessica Mendoza, Jeff Passan, Chris Burke, Eduardo Perez, and Kyle Peterson. There will also be video footage of front office personnel from all teams, and Mendoza will be conducting interviews with some of the draftees.
It should be a good time.
Did Barry Bonds hit a home run today?
Just one.
June 1, 2001: Against the Colorado Rockies, Bonds hit a 2-run home run in the 3rd inning off of Shawn Chacon, scoring Jeff Kent. It gave the Giants a 3-0 lead, and they would win 11-7. It was his 29th homer of the year.
Have a great Monday everybody.
