Gamethread: 2012 NLCS Game 3

Matt Cain vs. Kyle Lohse.

San Francisco Giants v St Louis Cardinals - Game Three

Due to the coronavirus outbreak suspending the 2020 MLB season, we’re rewatching the three San Francisco Giants postseason runs, game-by-game, on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights at 6 p.m. PT, with a gamethread for each.

The San Francisco Giants won a very important Game 2 in their NLCS battle with the St. Louis Cardinals, tying the series 1-1. They now head back to St. Louis for Games 3, 4, and 5.

The Giants will look to take the series lead behind Matt Cain, who finished the season with a 16-5 record, a 2.79 ERA, a 3.40 FIP, and 193 strikeouts in 219.1 innings. He made the All-Star team, and finished sixth in Cy Young Award voting.

The Cardinals are rolling with Kyle Lohse, who finished the year with a 16-3 record, a 2.86 ERA, a 3.51 FIP, and 143 strikeouts in 211 innings. He finished seventh in Cy Young Award voting.
