Due to the coronavirus outbreak suspending the 2020 MLB season, we’re rewatching the three San Francisco Giants postseason runs, game-by-game, on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday nights at 6 p.m. PT, with a gamethread for each.
The 2012 National League Championship Series did not get off to a good start for the San Francisco Giants. Despite having home field advantage, they dropped Game 1 of the series to the St. Louis Cardinals by a score of 6-4.
They need a win in Game 2 at AT&T Park, or else they’ll head to St. Louis trailing 2-0.
The Giants are putting the ball in the hand of Ryan Vogelsong, who finished the year with a 14-9 record, a 3.37 ERA, a 3.70 FIP, and 158 strikeouts in 189.2 innings.
The Cardinals are sending out Chris Carpenter, who missed almost the entire season due to thoracic outlet syndrome. Carpenter made just 3 starts, and finished the year with an 0-2 record, a 3.71 ERA, a 4.10 FIP, and 12 strikeouts in 17 innings.
